Our Objectives
Our pure and selfless objective is to assist in relieving sickness and financial hardship, in regions of need worldwide, through the provision of medical equipment, medicines and related services. Its dedicated aim is to provide artificial heart valves for the Sri Sathya Sai Institutes of Higher Medical Sciences in Puttaparthi and Whitefield . Since formation it has also extended its assistance to the Sri Sathya Sai Hospital in Rajkot.
In order to realise this objective, Heart Valve Bank was originally formed in London and since then nine branches have been established in other areas in the United Kingdom . It is the intention to expand by establishing more branches in United Kingdom and also in other countries.
The Project’s Aims
Sri Sathya Sai Baba has said ‘health is an essential requisite for man; it is the very root of all endeavours in the field of human achievement’. Moreover, Baba has said ‘Politics without principle, education without character, science without humanity, and commerce without morality are not only useless but positively dangerous’
Thus, His education system is based on five human values: Love, Peace, Truth, Right Conduct and Non-Violence for the moral regeneration.
This is also reflected in the ideals of international community. For example, on 10 December 1948 the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that all human beings are born equal in dignity and rights, without distinction of any kind such as race, religion. It further states that all human beings have the right to education. In 1948 the UN specialised agency, the World Health Organisation (WHO) was established. Its objective, among others, is the attainment by all people of the highest possible level of health. Thus, the UN also regards health and education as the fundamental rights for peoples of the world.
Hence, it can be seen that the aims of the international community converge towards those of Sai Baba, in the area of health and education. The difference is that, both in the education and health issues, Baba tackles them with human values added to them and has emphasise on the concept of selfless service.
With these ideals in mind, the primary aim of the Heart Valve Project to provide artificial heart valves. Furthermore, it is to assist in relieving sickness and financial hardship in regions of need worldwide, through the provision of medical equipment, medicines and related services.
